Registrations are now open for two (2) Coaching Practical Skills Workshops that will be delivered at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre from Saturday, 25th - Sunday, 27th October. 

These professional development opportunities are: 

• Level 2 Coach Practical Skills Workshop (for current Level 1 Coaches)
• Harness Use (Water and Dryland) Practical Skills Workshop (for current Level 2 - Level 4 Coaches only)

Both workshops will be expertly facilitated by Diving Australia Coaching Educator - Mike Martens with local support. Attendance at these Workshops is one (1) required component in attaining a national Level 2 Coach and/or Harness Use Accreditation. Spots are limited and prior registration is required to accommodate the completion of pre-workshop activities.   

Level 2 Coach Practical Skills Workshop

This Level 2 Coach Practical Skills workshop will be the first Level 2 Coaching Course facilitated by Diving Victoria. To attend this course, registrants must be Level 1 Coach accredited at time of registration.

Utilising accredited national and local expertise, this two-day Diving Australia course will be specifically designed to address the identified needs of the registered coaches who wish to further develop their professional skills and technical knowledge of coaching diving.

This course will also address additional components such as: the fundamental biomechanics and principles of diving, the instruction of higher order somersaulting, twisting, spotting and dive entry techniques, the competent use of training aids (including harnesses), platform diving (including up to 10m) and the appropriate use of strength & conditioning in the daily training environment. 

To attain Level 2 accreditation, attendance is mandatory across both days of this course unless otherwise approved by the Course facilitator. 

The cost for this 2-day workshop is $350.00. 

Harness Use Practical Skills Workshop

This Practical Skills Workshop is specifically designed for current Level 2 Coaches who wish to develop their use of training aids and to gain national Harness Use certification. It is intended that participants in this 1-day workshop will gain suitable accreditation for the ongoing use of water and dryland harnesses, however this will be subject to demonstrated individual competency and prior use experience. If additional training is required, a suitable development plan will be arranged for each individual to continue their pursuit of certification. 

Level 2 Coaching Course Participants will be introduced to Harness Use training as part of the two-day course. Given that no Level 1 Coach is expected to have previous harness use experience (water or dry) it is therefore anticipated that additional training will be required for individual certification of Harness Use.  

It is expected that this Harness-Use Practical Skills workshop will be incorporated into the two-day format of the Level 2 Coaching Course. This component will be held on Sunday, 26th October.  

The cost for this 2-day workshop is $175.00.
