STP/NTP

The State Talent Program / National Talent Program is an underpinning program for the Diving Australia elite pathway. Athletes will compete as part of the National Talent Program (NTP) under Diving Australia.

The primary focus of the NTP is to increase the number of athletes in the Diving Australia (DA) Elite Athlete Pathway with the skills (or potential to develop the skills) required for international success.

2019 marked the inaugural year of the Diving Australia National Skills Final (NSF) with great success. An exciting national competition for divers aged 13 years and under from around Australia. The competition assesses a number of skills both in and out of the diving pool. This event aims to develop the next generation of the worlds best divers by giving young developmental divers a rounded technical and physical base. Divers need to be strong in both areas to excel in the overall results.

The skills focus upon developing vital diving elements including:

  • Posture
  • Tension
  • Form
  • Balance
  • Sequence/Timing
  • Strength
  • Flexibility

There are two separate age categories: 11 years and under & 12 & 13 years (age as of the 31st of December). Both age categories have the same skill requirements and boys and girls are scored against each other (i.e. there are no sperate gender categories).
